Weekend races

An interesting event taking place in the grounds of Malahide Castle on Saturday is the Third Age 5k. for teams with 3 generations, further information on the runireland website. On Sunday 23rd RATHFARNHAM A.C hold their annual 5k at 10am, you can enter on line or on the day. This is also a Sli Cualann target race. Also on Sunday there is the Faythe Harriers 10k in Wexford at 11am.

Weekend round up

On Saturday 15th Sept, in the Dublin Half Marathon, Colette Mason ran 1hr 59, 11s. This was Colettes first half since joining the club and was well under her target time of 2hrs, well done. In the same race Martin Francis ran 1hr 20m 49s and picked up 1st prize in the O/50 category.

On Sunday 16th sept, in the Ratoath 5k, Martin Francis ran 18.13 and finished 2nd 0/50. Richard Kavanagh ran 19.43 in the same race. Please send your results to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Thursday Training.

 Tonight, Thursday 13th Sept, we had another large turn out, 25 in total. Seans group did a 1hr fartleg session and Dermots group did a very tough hill session. Both sessions being done with the Wicklow Novice C/C, on 7th Oct, in mind. We hope all eligable athletes will make every effort to be there. The group also welcomed one newcomer tonight, Suzie, we hope she enjoyed it. Next week will see Seans group again doing a fartleg session and Dermots group doing 300 and 400 repeats.  

Weekend results.

 Here are the results to hand for weekend 8th and 9th Sept. In the Bhaa Firhouse 10k, Lar Doyle finished 3rd in a time of 34.38 and Martin Francis finished 14th, 37.08 and 1st O/50. full results on www.bhaa.com . In the Waterside Half Marathon in Derrry, Pat McCourt ran 1hr 47m to finish 2nd O/60. In the Bohermeen, Rennicks Cup 5mile, Richard Kavanagh ran 32.30 and 2nd O/55, full results available on www.precisiontiming.net .Please forward all results to www.brayrunners.com .

Fit4Life 5k.

On Thursday 6th Sept., over 100 athletes took part in the Fit4Life 5k in Shanganah. We were represented by 30 athletes, 16 seniors and 14 juniors. The race was won by Jonathon Philips, in a time of 16.14. Here is a summary of how our athletes performed.

Our first person home was Blll Stanley,18.43, pb, (3rd O/40). Suzanne Foot was first woman to cross the line in a pb of 19.33. She ran in O/35 Cat, and took 1st place in that Cat. She had Joy Johnson, current Wicklow Senior C/C and Leinster masters road race champion 11 seconds behind her. Dave Carraher ran 21.31,pb. Mark Kierans ran 22.33, Siobhan Butler22.39(3rd O/40), Georgina Devlin22.46 (2ndO/35), Charlotte Stevens 23.32 !st o/50) and her first race back after a short lay off. Andrea Murphy 24.09, Collette Mason 24.47 (3rdO/35), Carmel Murphy 25.36, Susan Dowd 25.41, next home was Emer Grogan 28.22, Christine Wallace 28.32,  Elaine Nuzan 31.03, Tony O, Sullivan 33.03, and perhaps the biggest cheer of the night went to Mary Hourihan, who had to run out of category but still managed to finish 2nd o/50 in 34.44 a new pb. As we had a lot of new members there, could those not already credited with pb's, please inform us if your time was a new pb.

Next to our juveniles, who were a credit to the club on the night, all 14 of them.

Our Club was founded in 1983 primarily as a marathon running club, however over the years we have introduced a juvenile section and cover a wide range of athletic disciplines.
