Club Awards 2017

The Bray Runners 2017 Awards night was held in the Harbour Bar on Thursday 22nd Feb. The following were the recepients of the various awards. Congratulations to all. Our thanks to Cyril for all his hard work and his excellent presentation, as always.

 
• Athlete of the Year -  Gary Condon
• Master Athlete of the Year - Ashling Smith
• Most Improved Athlete(s) of the Year - Elaine Casey and Paul Allen
• Pat McCourt Trophy (Performance of the Year) - Stephen O'Kennedy
• Personality of the Year - Emer Hynes
• Barry Keane Trophy (Coaching) - Richard Hourihan
• Special Merit Award - Noelle Thorpe and Jean O'Kennedy
• Club 5k H'cap Championship - Colette Mason
• Race League - 1st Jackie O'Neill, 2nd Elaine Casey and 3rd Paul Allen

Gorey 5k and Orcas Island 50k

Well done to Dominic Horan who ran a fine 17.07 at the Gorey Night Run, 15th Feb., finishing 6th O/a and 1st 0/50.

Congratulations to Norbert Van Woerkam who completed the extremely tough Orcas Island, USA, 50K trail/ mountain run, last weekend in 8hr 26mins.

Armagh 5k 2018

In the Armagh 5k, Feb 15th, Gary Condon ran 16.02. This is a very high quality race with the first 94 athletes all running under 15 minutes. 
Also in Armagh, Ashling Smith ran 10.48 in the women's 3k race, finishing 1st in her age category. Emer Hynes ran 14.32, was 5th in her age Category, also in the 3k event. Una Britton ran an excellent 9.49.

National Masters C/C, Ashling in the Medals Again.

Congratulations to Ashling Smith who added a National Silver Medal to her ever growing medal collection, at the National Masters Cross Country C/ships in Clarinbribge, on Sunday 11th Feb. Conditions were tough, cold, windy and very soft underfoot. Ashling finished 10th overall, from 180 starters, and 2nd in her age category. Fine runs also from our fellow Sli Cualann athletes, Catherine O'Connor, Ann Marie Kenny and Carol Costello. The Sli Cualann women's team of Ashling, Catherine, Ann Marie and Carol finished in a very impressive 5th place and 4th county.
Well done also to the Sli Cualann men, Clive Quinn, Cormac Conroy, Mick Byrne and Billy Tyrell, fine performances from all.

Enniscorthy 10k, 11th Feb

At the Enniscorthy 10k, on Sunday 11th Feb., Jean O'Kennedy continued her fine form winning her age category in a time of 45.17. Paul Gannon ran 52.10 and great to see Ana Molina and Elaine Nuzun racing and finishing in just over the hour mark.

Date for Diary, Duleek 5k, Sunday 25th Feb., good numbers travelling.

AAI Indoor Games

Ashling Smith continued her preparations for European Masters Indoors, at the AAI Indoor games in Abbottstown on Sunday 4th Feb.. Ashling finished 5th in the Senior Women's 3000mtrs in a time of 10.40, a new Pb.

Our Club was founded in 1983 primarily as a marathon running club, however over the years we have introduced a juvenile section and cover a wide range of athletic disciplines.
