Ashling 5th in Madrid

Congratulations to Ashling Smith who finished 5th in the Final of the 3000mtrs at the European Indoor Masters C/ships on Monday 19th March. In a very tactical race Ashling ran 10.59. The race was won by an Italian woman in 10.50. Congratulations also go to Ireland's Jackie Stamp (Carthy) who was 2nd in 10.52. 

Meath Spring Half Marathon

Great performances from our athletes, friends and our fellow Sli Cualann athletes at the Bohermeen Half Marathon and 10k, which was held on Sunday 11th March.
Ian McGrath finished in an excellent 10th place O/a and was 2nd 0/40 in a time of 73.39. Gary Condon was 16th O/a and 3rd 0/45 in 74.36.
Suzanne Foot was 4th woman home in 87.18 and Helen Barry ran 89.17.
Michael Knight was 1st 0/60 in 93.22. Ciara Carter ran 1.41.48, Karol O'Loinsigh ran a Pb of 1.43.56. Mary Hayde also ran a Pb of 1.47.34.
Peter Doran, 1.55.43, was another to run a Pb. Marie Curran ran 1.58.30, Elaine Casey ran 2.02.04, Emer Hynes ran 2.02.09.
Gordon McWilliams, 82.26, smashed his Pb, Georgina Devlin ran 97.31, Grainne Butler ran 1.45.04 and Grainne Cunningham ran 1.55.44.
Fine runs also from our fellow Sli Cualann athletes, including Clive Quinn, 74.13;; Catherine O'Connor, 87.15; Anne Marie Kenny,1.44.03. Alan Dalton ran a fine 35.27 and finished 7th O/A in the 10k event.

The Sli Cualann Womens Team, Suzanne Foot, Catherine O'Connor, Helen Barry and Ciara Carter finished in an excellent 2nd place just pipped by a top class Donore Harriers AC team. The Sli Cualann mens team finished in 4th place.

At the Milton Keynes 20mile, Richard Kavanagh ran 2.42.57.

National Masters Indoors, Gold for Ashling, Silver for Dominic

Ashling Smith and Dominic Horan togged out in their Sli Cualann vests, on Saturday 10th March, at the Athletics Ireland Irish Life Masters Indoor Championships in Athlone.  Ashling ran a controlled 5:03.93 to take Gold in the W45 1500m, while Dominic running in the M50 3,000m finished strongly over the last few laps to take Silver in the last few meters in 9:54.52. Congratulations also goes to our fellow Sli Cualann medal winners, Carol Costello 1st, W45 in the 800m (2:44.60), Francois Kulik 1st M45 in the high jump (1.75) and PJ Doyle 3rd in the weight for distance event, these are the results we have to hand. We wish Ashing all the very best in her final week's preparation for the European Masters Indoors Championships in Madrid starting March 19th.

Fine Turnout for Duleek 5k

Well done to all our athletes and friends who took part in the Duleek AC 5k, on Sunday 25th Feb. Duleek 5k is a well organised race run over a good 5k course, Great times recorded by all, as well as a number of new Pb's.
Fine runs from John Ashworth who ran 21.05 and Jean O'Kennedy, 21.53, 3rd in Cat., both just seconds away from Pbs. Tom Cavanagh 21.58 and Noelle Thorpe, 22.01, 4th in cat., were both well pleased with their times. Mary Hayde recorded a new Pb of 22.13, and was 2nd in cat.. Colette Mason ran 24.39, her best 5k time in over 4 years. Paul Gannon, getting back to his best, ran 24.25.
Aoife Stokes ran 24.42, a new Pb by almost 2 minutes. Maureen O'Rourke ran a fine new Pb of 25.01. Mary O'Connor 26.15, also recorded a Pb, 31 seconds off her previous best.
Mary Deery ran a fine 27.49, and Jackie O'Neill, 28.15, was another to record a new Pb.
Great run also from Helen Murphy 21.35 and 1st in her age category. Another athlete to smash her Pb was Cathy Mitchell who recorded 22.45 and 3rd in age category. Bobby Mitchell, doing an excellent pacing job ran 22.41. 
Great result for our ladies team, running as Sli Cualann, they finished in an excellent 2nd place, beaten by a very good Navan AC team.

Dominic Horan Wins Gold at Leinster Indoors.

Congratulations to Dominic Horan who won Gold at the Leinster Masters Indoor C/ships in Abbottstown on Saturday 24th Feb. Dominic ran a fine 10.00 to take 1st place in the 3,000mtrs 0/50 cat.
Also in Abbottstown, Ashling Smith ran a new 3,000mtrs Pb, running 10.38. Ashling opted to run in the senior women category and finished in a fine 4th place. (her time would have won her age category).

Our Club was founded in 1983 primarily as a marathon running club, however over the years we have introduced a juvenile section and cover a wide range of athletic disciplines.
