Great Club Night at Bohermeen 5k

The annual Patrick Bell 5k was held in Bohermeen on Friday evening 8th June. A large group of Bray Runners, our fellow Sli Cualann athletes and many of our friends took part. 
Ian McGrath was the first Bray Runner home in a fine time of 16.19, was 8th O/A and 2nd 0/40. Dominic Horan continued his fine run of form running 17.15, 22nd 0/a and 1st 0/50. Ashling Smith finished in a time of 19.18, 8th woman home and 2nd in her age cat. Great to see Paul Allen back after injury, Paul ran 19.56. Karol O'Loinsigh ran a new Pb of 21.15 and was closely followed by Tom Cavanagh 21.19 a seasons best. Lee Boland ran 21.39. Jean O'Kennedy, running her 2nd race in 6 days ran 22.04 and was 1st in her age cat. Jenny Lawler ran a seasons best of 22.55 and Mary Hayde ran 23.13. 
Both Peter Doran 23.56 and Paul Gannon 24.08 ran Sb. (good luck to Paul on Sunday in the Wexford Marathon). Sandra Brady, 4th in age cat, ran 25.14 and Mary Deery 26.57 was 3rd in her age Cat. Mary O'Connor ran 27.11 and Jackie O'Neill ran 29.06

Great running also from our fellow Sli Cualann athletes, Clive Quinn runinng an excellent 15.58, 4th O/a and 1st 0/40. Great run also from Catherine O'Connor, finishing 4th woman and 3rd in her age cat., in a time of 18.24. Fine run from Laura McCann, 21.00, 4th in her age cat. 
Fine running also from our good friends. Helen Murphy 20.57, Cathy Mitchell 22.25 and a new Pb, Grainne Butler 22.25 equalling her Pb (again). 
Aisling Healy ran 24.22 in her first race in over a year and Allison Doyle ran 29.39.
In the team event the Sli Cualan womens team, Catherine O'Connor, Ashling Smith, Laura McCann and Jean O'Kennedy finished 2nd to an excellent Dunboyne AC team. The Mens team, Clive Quinn, Ian McGrath, Dominic Horan and Paul Allen, finished 4th

Ian and Dominic in Top Form at Dunboyne 5ml

Ian McGrath and Dominic Horan ran in the very popular and highly competitive BHAA Dunboyne 5 mile road race on Tuesday 29th May. Conditions were ideal for racing and Ian ran 26:59 to finish 4th overall and Dominic clocked a master's PB running 28:23. Great to see our good friend Martin Francis back to winning ways, running an excellent 31.31 and 1st in 0/60 cat.

Ian McGrath in Fine Form in Streets of Dublin 5k

At the Spar Streets of Dublin 5k on Sunday, 20th May, Ian McGrath ran a fine 16.49 to finish 8th O/A and 2nd 0/35. Paul Gannon ran 25.08 and our fellow Sli Cualann athlete, Alan Dalton ran 17.18 and was 3rd 0/35.
At the Bob Heffernan 5k in Johnstown Bridge, on Tuesday 22nd May, Jean 0'Kennedy was 1st in her age category running 21.58. Siobhan Butler, getting back to her best after her recent injury, ran a Season's Best of 22.25 for 4th in her age category. Richard Kavanagh ran 21.24. Well done also to our good friends Stephen O'Kennedy 16.59, Helen Murphy 20.50 Pb, Grainne Butler 22.25 equaling her Pb and Cathy Mitchell 22.32 also a Pb. 
Race was won by Hiko Tonosa in 14.18 and Una Britton was 1st woman home in 17.16. 
Well done to Ana Molina and Elaine Nuzun who took part in Half Marathon in Bilboa, Northern Spain over the weekend. Full details to follow.

Belated congratulations to Dolores Gilliland (200mtrs), Ashling Smith (200mtrs and 400mtrs) Dominic Horan (1500mtrs) who each won their age categories at the recent Wicklow T/F C'ships.

Sportsworld 5k

Well done to all our athletes who took part in the Sportsworld 5mile in Terenure on Sunday 13th May, great running from all.Jean O'Kennedy ran 35.32 and 2nd in age category. Mary Hayde 37.39 and a new Pb. Maureen O'Rourke 41.54 Pb... Sandra Brady ran 43.04 and Elaine Casey ran 44.22. Mary O'Connor ran 44.20 and Rachel Daly ran 44.29, a Pb.. Liz Melican 45.16, Pb and Mary Deery 46.31 4th in age cat... Jackie O'Neill ran a Pb 48.28 and Avril Leonard 48.30 also a Pb.
Fine run also from our fellow Sli Cualann athlete, Alan Dalton who ran 28.32.

Le Cheile 5k, Leixlip

The Le Cheile 5k was held on Wednesday last, 9th May. Well done to Jason O'Connor who ran 21.42, great to see Jason back running well again. Richard Kavanagh ran 21.46, 2nd 0/60. Great running from our fellow Sli Cualann athletes, with Donal Flannery running 17.21 and was 14th 0/A, Billy Tyrell 19.12 and 1st 0/60 and Sile O'Byrne 19.15 and was 4th woman home.

Leinster Road C/Ships 2018

Well done to all Bray Runners and our fellow Sli Cualann and County athletes who took part in the Leinster Road Race C/ships., in Gowran on Monday 7th May.
In the Master Women's 3K race congratulations go to Jean O'Kennedy who won Gold in her age Category and Ashling Smith who also won Gold in her age Category. Jean,19th overall, ran a fine Pb of 12.59, over what is a tough 2 lap course. Ashling, 4th overall, ran 11.22. 
Catherine O'Connor was 1st woman home in a great time of 10.56 and took Gold in her age Category and Laura McCann ran 12 36, 5th in age Category and 14th overall. 
The Sli Cualann womens Masters team won Gold in both Club and County event.
In the Men's Masters 6k, Gordon McWilliams ran a fine 22,12, (his 2nd race of the day), and was 5th in his age Category. Ray Kenny 22.00, Billy Porter 24.04 and Tony Gartland 26.39 completed the Sli Cualann line up in the Masters Men.
In the Novice Men, also 6k, Ian McGrath finished 8th running 20.55, Dominic Horan, 13th, 21.20, Gordon McWilliams 22nd, ran 22.49 and Billy Porter ran 25.08 and 27th place. Great running from all, and a well deserved Bronze Team Medal. (in same race in 2011 Dominic ran 22,33, improving with age) 
In the Novice Women 3k, Sile O'Byrne finished in an excellent 5th place in a fine time of 11.24 and Paula O'Byrne also ran a fine 14.38 and 21st place.

Well done also to Jackie O'Neill who ran 64.37 at the Drogheda 10k on Sunday 6th May. Good run from Jackie despite the very hot conditions and a 3pm start.
Well done also to our good friend Cathy Mitchell who ran 23.02 (well paced by Bobby) and was 5th woman home (only 47sec behind Sonia) at the Roberstown 5k on Monday.

Our Club was founded in 1983 primarily as a marathon running club, however over the years we have introduced a juvenile section and cover a wide range of athletic disciplines.
