Invitation to All.

Robert Mead, Dan Sauceda and Charles Gaytan have a simple mission: to bring positive awareness to public service professions.

Over the past year, the three young men have figured out a unique way to show their appreciation, getting others to join them on a regular basis.

The men have been running around the Sparks Marina, one to two laps a day, for the better part of a year. They aren't looking for donations or personal fame. They just want to honour firefighters', police, medics and military by spreading the word about their support and by making the effort every day to run with American flags.

On Sunday 26th July, Mead, along with a handful of Americans, will travel to Ireland to meet with Mary Murray to present her with the flag he has been running with to honour Brian Murray and Mark O'Shaughnessy who both tragically died while fighting a fire in 2007. Afterwards, Irish soldiers, firefighters, medics and police will join the American visitors, mixing Irish and American flags, on a run/jog/walk for six miles between the two coastal towns of Bray and Greystones. The run will be along the Greystones/Bray Cliff and will start at 10.30am from the Greystones end.

Bray Runners have been invited to take part in this very special event and we would ask as many members and friends, as possible, to take part.

Leinster Juveniles T/F

On Saturday, Bray Runners Juveniles were proudly represented in the Leinster Track and Field Champs by Aoife Carter and Grainne O'Sullivan (both U12's) and Orla O'Callaghan (U13) on what was a very windy day in Tullamore.

Orla ran an impressive 2:07 in the 600m finishing 24th of 40 competitors. Grainne qualified for the final of the 60m hurdles with a super display in her heat, finishing 7th in the final. Grainne and Aoife narrowly missed the final of the 60m sprints, both recording  9.55 seconds in their heats.

Grainne came 6th in a huge field in the U12 long jump with a jump of 3.78m while Aoife went on to run 2:16 in the U12 600m.

All three girls did fantastically well in what is always a hugely competitive competition and will have benefited hugely from the experience.
