Congratulations to the Bray Runners girls Under 16 4x200 relay team, who won bronze at the National Indoor C/ships on 6th April. They recorded an excellent time of 1min 47.2 sec. A great achievement by the girls and their coaches and mentors.
Well done all our athletes and friends who have been racing over the past few days. These are the results we have to hand. At the Berlin Half Marathon Ian McGrath ran a fine 74.09 and finished an excellent 4th in his age category. In Rotterdam, Sharon Bailey ran 50.08 in the quarter marathon, and in the Rotterdam Marathon Ross Kelly ran 3.47.49. At the Manchester Marathon Mark Messitt ran an excellent 3:07:45.
On Saturday, 6th April, at the Bray Cliff 10k, Paul Allen finished in 6th place in a time of 39.55.
On Saturday 30th March, at the DCC (BHAA) 4mile, Bernard Quinn continued with his excellent early season form, running 28.01 and was 1st 0/65. Well done to ALL our athletes who took part in the Shanganagh Parkrun on Sat., Darren Cullen, having his first run as a Bray Runner, was first athlete home in 18.07. Well done to our fellow Sli Cualann athlete, Catherine O'Connor, who ran a fine 3.04.42, 5th in age category, at the Manchester Marathon earlier today. Great run also from our good friend Cathy Mitchell who smashed her Pb by over 8 minutes, running 3.28.19 also in Manchester. Well done also to Graham Bailey who ran and completed his first marathon in Rotterdam today
We had a fantastic session Saturday 6th April with world champion Joe Gough leading our master class in middle distance running. Joe’s session was fabulous and got all of us doing things we didn’t think we could do. It was clear that Joe keeps things very simple, but what he does do, he does skillfully, thoroughly and properly. Thanks so much Joe, you’re a legend and a gentleman. Really enjoyed the Q&A after too.
Well done to our athletes who took part in the Wicklow Half Marathon and 10k on March 24th 2019.
Maureen O'Rourke ran a fine 2.01.50 over what is a very tough course. Paul Gannon, fresh from his 10k at the K Club on Saturday, ran 2.12.45.
In the 10k, Joe Eustace had a great run, recording a time of 46.55, 14th overall and 2nd 0/50.
Reminder; Thursday next will be our final Training session from St Annes Church carpark until November. Tuesday and Thursday training returns to Shanganagh from Tuesday 2nd April. We have a room booked in the resource centre on Thursday from 7.30 to 8.30, where we will have an informal chat about our next block of training. We may even have tea and biscuits.
