Neil's Brilliant 12th Place in Ballycotton

The Ballycotton 10mile was held today Sunday 9th March. A field of over 3,000 took part in almost perfect conditions for racing. Neil Wiktorski finished in a magnificent 12th place in a time of 53.54. Other Bray Runners times were as follows; Des O'Hare, 66.13; Gordon McWilliams, 66.36; Helen Barry, 67.36, 5th O/40; Richard Kavanagh, 68.38, 3rd O/60; Suzanne Foot, 70.56; Noelle Thorpe, 72.35, 2nd O/50; Diarmuid Potts, 74.37; Diana Doll, 74.56, Robert Quinn, 75.07; Leanne Geraghty, 75.36; Denise O'Leary, 76.50; Georgina Devlin, 76.52; Susan Dowd, 81.14; Colette Mason, 81.34; Grainne Cunningham, 81.48; Andrea Murphy, 82.01; Cathy Mitchell, 82.53; Dolores Gilliland, 83.44, 5th O/55; Siobhan Butler, 88.54. Well done to all who took part, we hope to have some photos displayed shortly. Tadhg Twomey, well known to most in Bray Runners, finished 2nd O/75 in 90.18.  

The race was won by Seirgiu Ciobanu, Clonliffe, in 48.58, with Siobhan O'Doherty, Borrisokane AC, winning the womens race in 57.32.

In our predictor competition a number of athletes were very close to their predicted time, Noelle Thorpe was within 26 seconds, Helen Barry was within 24 seconds, Grainne Cunningham was a mere 12 seconds out, but it is Des O'Hare who takes the honours, predicting 66.20 and running 66.13.

  

Joe Cawley Win Kinvara Half Marathon.

Joe Cawley won todays, Kinvara, Rock and Road, Half Marathon. He finished in an excellent 76mins, 11 secs, a new PB, well ahead of his closest challenger, Paul Fitzgerald, Limerick AC, who finished in 77.06. Joe was 3rd is this race in 2012 and 4th in 2013. In the ladies race Eimear O'Leary, MSB, was 1st home in 87.30.

Ballycotton 2014

Here is some information for those travelling to Ballycotton on Sunday week.If you are not going, have a look anyway, it might encourage you to take part next year. Latest News and Results

On Saturday last, 22nd Feb., the Wicklow Hospice Half Marathon was held in Rathdrum. The mens race was won by John Frazer, Crusaders, in a time of 72.10, Paula Prendergast, won the womens race in 85.13. Dominic Horan continued his preparation for London, with a 5th place finish in 81.36, closely followed by Martin Francis, 12th place, in 84.55. Full results can be found on the link below,

The National Intermediate and Masters Cross Country was held in Dunboyne on Sunday 23rd Feb., Gary Condon finished in a very creditable 34th place in a time of 26.17 in the 8k Masters race..

The Operation Transformation 5k took place in the Phoenix Park on Saturday last, Mary Hourihan (making a great return after her recent injury), Lorraine O'Rourke, Ana Molina and Elaine Nuzun were among those taking part. Awaiting confirmation of times. Well done to all who took part.

Ballycotton Predictor Competition.  As in previous years we will be having a time predictor competition in conjunction with the Ballycotton 10. Competion will be settled on Chip Time. We have 25 athletes entered in Ballycotton this year.

There was reason for big celebrations at the Leinster Indoor Track and Field Championships held in the International Arena at Athlone IT as Joe Gough, pictured, set a world Masters Over-60 Indoor 800m record of 2:14.06 – beating the existing record of 2:14.23 held by Horace Grant of the USA.
