Bohermeen 5k, Saturday 10th June

Bohermeen AC 5k on Saturday evening. Gary Condon ran 16.21 to finish 5th 0/A and 1st O/45. Colm O'Heigeartaigh ran a new Pb of 17.10 and 14th O/A. Paul Allen ran 18.22 and Des O'Hare 19.28. Gary, Colm, Paul and Des finished 3rd team in a hotly contested team event.
Suzanne Foot,18.50, finished 3rd in the women's race and 1st in her age cat. Siobhan Butler ran a new Pb of 21.33, Jean O'Kennedy also ran a new Pb of 21.47 and was 1st in her age Cat. Noelle Thorpe, continued her comeback to racing with a fine 22.00 and 3rd in age Cat. Suzanne, Siobhan, Jean and Noelle finished in a fine 2nd place in the team event,
Richard Kavanagh ran 21.13 and 3rd 0/60, Jason O'Connor 21.20, Tom Cavanagh ran 21.27 and Karol O'Loinsigh ran a new Pb of 21.39. 
 Ashling Healy, running her first 5k ran 24.05, Ciara Carter ran 22.17, Grainne Butler 23.11, Cathy Mitchell 23.17, Emer Hynes 24.52. 
 Elaine Casey, 25.34, was another to run a new Pb, Sandra Brady 26.08, Caoimhe Guilfoyle 26.41 also ran a new Pb.
Ronan Guilfoyle, 28.19 and Allison Doyle ran 28.58, Caoimhe Nolan was pleased with her 32.13 as she recovers from injury.
Hannah Foot ran 24.03 and was 4th in Junior Girls, Alannah Guilfoyle 24.20 was 6th Junior girl and Aoife Carter was 7th Junior girl in 24.35.

Donboyne 5ml

Congratulations to Colm O'Heigeartaigh, Siobhan Butler and Cathy Mitchell who all recorded new Pbs at the Dunboyne 5ml on Tuesday last, 30th May. Colm smashed his old Pb, runninig an excellent 28.27. Siobhan ran 35.16 and not alone recorded a new Pb but also was 1st in her age Category. Cathy ran 37.37, a new Pb and 4th in her age Category.

Bob Heffernan 5k

Some good times recorded at the Bob Heffernan 5k on Tuesday 23rd May. Gary Condon ran a fine 16.21. Siobhan Butler ran 21.43. Cathy Mitchell 23.05 and Grainne Butler 23.10, both recording new Pb. Pet Somba was first man home in 15,08, while Laura Shaughnessy was first woman home in 16.31.

2017 Race League

Bray Runners Committee have great pleasure in introducing the Bray Runners League of Races 2017 competition.  This initiative is all about participation, inclusion and above all fun, not to mention maybe getting people to consider running races they might not otherwise thought of doing!   There are a variety of races ranging from Parkruns, to 10ks,  Paced Mile, Track and Field and cross country so plenty of choice for everyone.

The basic rules are as follows:
  • Competition runs from May to December 2017 with a selection of races as listed below to count.
  • Any 6 races to count from list below. 
  • Scoring is based on points with points being awarded for participation, Pbs and also participation in certain races will attract bonus points. 
  • The onus rests with athletes to notify brayrunners@gmail.com on the evening of the race with their time so result can be recorded.
  • The Bray Runners weekly newsletter will publish the up to date results of the League as the competition progresses.

Please consider taking part in the League it should make for great fun and provide a little competition!

Enter as many as you wish, scores will be based on highest 6 scoring races.
5 points for finishing a race.

In the event of a tie at the end of the league, the person with the highest score from Pbs will be the winner.

Leinster Road Races, Novice/Masters

Well done to all Bray Runners and Sli Cualann athletes who took part in the Leinster Masters and Novice Road Race C/ships on Monday 1st May.. Congratulations to Charlotte Stevens who won Gold in her age cat, running an excellent 13.27 over a tough 3k course. Suzanne Foot came home with 4 medals, 2 individual and 2 team. Suzanne ran a fine 10.49 to finish 3rd overall and 2nd in her age cat, a mere second behind the winner. Suzanne was also part of the Sli Cualann Masters women's team who won Gold and the Wicklow County Masters team who also won Gold. Catherine O'Connor (10.57 and 4th in age Cat) and Ann Marie Kenny (11.27 and 7th in Cat) were the other members of the Sli C and County teams. 
Both Catherine and Ann Marie took part in the 3k Novice C/ships, Catherine running 11.23 and 8th, Ann Marie 11.43 and 13th and with Sheila O'Byrne finishing 12th in 11.41 the Sli C Novice team finished in a very creditable 4th place.
The Masters Men's race is held over 6k, 4x1.5k laps. Well done to our own Dominic Horan who finished 6th 0/50 in a time of 21.41 and was part of the Sli Cualann 50+ team who won Gold. Congratulations to Mick Byrne who won Gold in M55 Cat and Shay Faulkner 23.47 who was 4th in 0/55 Cat, 
both were also part of the winning 50+ team. Well done also to Danny Green who was 4th M60 in 24.22.

Weford Half and Dublin Night Run.

More results from Sunday 23rd April. At the Wexford Half Marathon, Peter Doran ran a new Pb of 1.58.33 and Paul Gannon also ran a new Pb of 1.58.41. First time for both athletes to break 2hrs and a deserved reward for all their hard work at training. 
At the Dublin Night 10k run, Paul Allen recorded an excellent 38.01(just seconds away from a pb). Mark Durcan ran a new Pb of 51.25 and we send our congratulations to Aoife Stokes who ran her first 10K in a time of 58.32
