Message From Athletics Wicklow

On behalf of the Executive of Athletics Wicklow, (Billy, Dermot, Cyril) I would like to wish you and your families a very Happy Christmas and New Year.
We would also like you to extend our season greetings to all our athletes at home and abroad and hope that they continue to enjoy and excel in their chosen disciplines.
And to those of you who are injured or unwell may we wish you a speedy recovery and a bright 2014.

CLUB H/CAP. SUNDAY 15TH DEC.

 Just a reminder that our annual Club 5K H/cap will take place tomorrow morning in Shanganagh. Check in from 9.15, usual race start area, near railway bridge, first off at 9.45. Juvenile 3k race also planned. As is usual for this event if you wish to bring a small gift, bottle of wine, chocolates etc to use as prizes, please feel free to do so.

Annnual Drinks Night

Our Annual Drinks Night will take place in Duff's Lounge, Main St., Bray, on Thursday 12th Dec from 9pm. All welcome, bring a friend.

Ballycotton, Final Reminder and more

The Ballycotton 10 mile road race is one of the most popular races in the country and the demand for places last Friday was testament to that. After opening at 2pm, all 2,300 places available online were sold out within 90 minutes although there were some problems with the website being able to handle so many requests.

Note however that these are now the only options for getting in....

1) If you are a member of an Athletics Ireland registered club then you have until Friday the 20th to get your entry in.

Entry forms can also be applied for by return to this email.
Entry on the day may or may not be available. This will be confirmed nearer the date. Numbers are limited however and entries have started to come in in earnest.
All pre-entered runners will receive our unique race memento, the Ferrycarrig 5 Gym Towel and all will receive a goody bag and refreshments afterwards.

Winter League. Rd 4

Tonight, Thursday 5th Dec., we had Rd 4 of our Winter League, a 10 x 400mtr 2 person relay. The race proved to be a very interesting affair with the lead changing hands on a number of occasions and the result in doubt up to the final few metres. The winners were the very experienced pairing of Pat McCourt and Christy Maloney, in 4th place after 1st leg they gradually moved through the field to win by 2sec from Diana Doll and Jason O'Connor. The final round will be held in conjunction with our Annual 5k Club H/cap, on Sunday 15th December, in Shanganagh at 9.30.

Our Club was founded in 1983 primarily as a marathon running club, however over the years we have introduced a juvenile section and cover a wide range of athletic disciplines.
