Congratulations to Gary Condon who, after a couple of trial runs, broke 16 minutes for 5k at tonights Enfield 5k. Gary ran an excellent 15.52 to finish in 11th place and 2nd O/40. Martin Fagan, Mullingar Harriers, fresh from his win in Terenure on Sunday last, won the race in a time of 14.26, with Barbara Cleary, Donore, winning the womens race in 16.21.
Our annual awards night will be held on Saturday evening next, 24th May. It will be held upstairs at the Harbour Bar, with the presentations taking place at 9pm. Please remember the Awards are for performances in 2013. The following are the nominees in each award category.

At todays Terenure 5mile we had 11 of our athletes taking, all putting in excellent performances. This race attracts a huge field every year, it also attracts most of the top runners around. As well as the individual categories the team prizes are also very keenly contested.
The MASTER LADIES TEAM PRIZE (35+) was won by Sli Cualann, Helen Barry, Noelle Thorpe, Charlotte Stevens and Jackie Patrick (Greystones AC) were the scoring members of the team, with great back up from Andrea Murphy, Grainne Cunningham and Sandra Brady.
Neil Wiktorski, running his final warm up race before next weeks Edinburgh Half Marathon, finished in an excellent 12th place in a time of 26.20. Dominic Horan continued his very impressive season, by finishing 3rd O/40 in 28.51. Helen Barry set another PB, 31.37 and was 4th O/40. Colm O'Heigeartaigh, running his first 5miler, ran a fine 32.05. Diarmuid Potts, 33.59, and Richard Kavanagh, 34.04 (3rd O/60), were both happy with there times. Noelle Thorpe also set a new PB, 34.41, 2nd O/40 and first time under 35mins. Andrea Murphy, 38.38, set a new PB. There was also great runs from Charlotte Stevens, 38.06, and Grainne Cunningham, 40.27. Sandra Brady continued her comeback to racing by running 42.19. Well done to all who competed and thanks to those who came out to support our athletes.

Thursday evening seen several Bray Runners head to the track for the Fit4Life Mile.
The track at Charlesland was still buzzing as a schools competition wrapped up for the day and ‘Fit4Lifers’ registered in the a grade that suited their target.
With mild temperatures and only the slightest of breezes blowing down the back straight this made it a perfect evening for both seasoned and novice track runners.
Cyril was once again the official starter and got the 5 separate races off in quick succession to keep the agenda on schedule.
In the sub 5:30 which was won in 4:39 by Inbhear Dee’s Tim Grummell, Gary Condon ran a PB in 4:49 to win the M40 category and Dominic Horan ran a Master’s PB of 4:57 to take 3rd place.
Colm Ó Héigéartaigh 5:26 and Tom Cavanagh 6:18 both ran fine races in the sub 6:30 race.
Not to be outdone the Women also put on a fine show, fastest woman on the night was Parnell’s Sile O’Byrne running 5:29, with our own Noreen Nuala Noelle (Terry will get it right one of these days J) Thorpe running her 1st track race was 3rd fastest Woman and winning the W50 category in 6:12, the ever present Charlotte Stevens finished 3rd in the same category with a 6:38 and Cara Condon ran 6:26 to pick up 2nd place in the Junior Women.

Next up for the Fit4Life series is a 4 mile run along the Murrough in Wicklow Town on Thurs May 29th.

On Sunday 11th May, Joe Cawley won the Easkey Castle 10k, Sligo, in an impressive 35.47. Joe has already won the Kinvara Half Marathon and the Wicklow Goal Half Marathon this year, another Bray Runner in great form.
Our Club was founded in 1983 primarily as a marathon running club, however over the years we have introduced a juvenile section and cover a wide range of athletic disciplines.
